The client
Ms. Beasley, the esteemed founder of Sassy Pooch and the visionary behind the acclaimed Doggie Dog Haute Couture Fashion Show, is not only a pioneering entrepreneur in pet fashion but also a former model in doggie fashion shows herself. Her firsthand experience on the runway, beginning 10 years ago (70 in dog years), has infused Sassy Pooch with an authentic passion for haute couture, elevating pet apparel while championing animal welfare and adoption. In her day, due to her self-confident, bold and somewhat eccentric personality, she came to be known as Sassy Pooch, hence the name of her show. Her brand seamlessly blends trendsetting designs with a mission to foster a community of fashion-forward pet enthusiasts dedicated to the well-being of animals, promoting a stylish, compassionate lifestyle for pets and their owners alike.

The challenge
Designing a new website for the Doggie Dog Haute Couture Fashion Show presents a unique set of challenges that require careful consideration and strategic planning. The website needs to effectively reflect the luxury and exclusivity of the event, engage users, provide easy navigation, and showcase strong visuals. Let’s delve into these challenges:
Findings
- Style: The site must embody haute couture’s elegance through sophisticated design choices, balancing aesthetic appeal with functionality.
- Strong Visuals: Essential for capturing the show’s spirit, the challenge lies in presenting high-quality, fast-loading visuals without sacrificing performance.
- Maintaining Brand Consistency: It’s crucial to align the website with the show’s brand identity, balancing consistency with unique web design elements for brand recognition.
The outcome
The solution was to make the style visually elegant, playful, colorful, cheerful, all the while reflecting a high-end fashion show.
The outcome was to make the design reflect that of a high-end fashion show site, while adding a playful element. An elegant typeface, bright colors, and strong visuals were chosen. Dog quote bubbles and the copy set a humorous tone. The copy was created in ChatGPT 4.0.
Home page

Overall, the hero section has an elegant look and feel, setting the tone for the rest of the site. The headline and large photo aim at creating drama, drawing one’s attention into the site. The photo establishes the style for the visuals throughout the site. The logo script font compliments the sans serif. The gray background mimics the color of the dog, while helping to draw one the pink outfit and purple elements.

The new website conveys an attitude of haute couture sophistication, with a bit of whimsy. The purple rows so dots adds the sense of a theatre marquee.

The assortment of bright colors adds to the flair of the various costumes. The black areas adds sophistication and anchors the design. The dog visuals in the sections are loosely staggered to avoid monotony.
Quotes add to the sense of personality of the dogs, already created by the wardrobe.
In addition, the open layout offers visual breathing room for a smoother user experience, thus encouraging visitors to explore the website.
The fonts used are Hanken Grotesk, an edgy sans serif and Yuji Boku, an informal handwritten script.

Secondary elements have a black background to give contrast the main elements above.

Reviews
The section on the home page carries over to the hero section on the corresponding inside page. The layout is simple. The black section below the hero section is consistent with that on the home page.

The impact
Ms. Beasley is ecstatic about the newly designed website. It adds a bit of respectability to the fashion show, not to mention her reputation. The dogs can now truly have their day.
“Arf Arf! 🐩
Being a visionary in the canine fashion world isn’t all fetch and belly rubs. When I envisioned The Doggie Dog Fashion Show, I knew I needed a website as sleek and sophisticated as my fur coat after a grooming session.
I put my trust in the team behind Goodkin Design, and let me tell you, they did not disappoint! From the get-go, they took the time to understand my doggone unique vision. They made sure the website was not only user-friendly for my human friends but also captured the essence of canine couture.
The platform they created for The Doggie Dog Fashion Show is paw-sitively stunning. It’s easy for participants to register, for fans to fetch tickets, and for everyone to get a sneak peek at the latest in doggie design.
Thanks to Goodkin Design, The Doggie Dog Fashion Show is set to be the most barked-about event of the year. Two paws up for their exceptional work!
Happy howls and stylish struts.
